“Revolution” is an epic, swashbuckling drama from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and “Supernatural’s” Eric Kripke. With sweeping scope and intimate focus, this show centers on the Matheson family’s struggle to survive 15 years after a mysterious worldwide blackout. Their post-apocalyptic world is juxtaposed with bucolic, overgrown cities and a journey of hope, rebirth and retribution.
For the traditional 2012-13 TV season, “Revolution” averaged a 4.3 rating in adults 18-49, tying it as the #8 primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox (excluding sports pre- and post-game shows) and making it the #1 10 p.m. drama on those networks. “Revolution” was the second-youngest drama on ABC, CBS or NBC, with a 46.7 median age for its audience (placing behind only “Hannibal’s” 45.3).
Season two picks up right where season one left off with ICBMs speeding toward Atlanta and Philadelphia. Last season, Rachel’s (Elizabeth Mitchell, “Lost”) relentless quest to avenge her son’s death sent her on a heroic journey to the Tower, where she could turn the power back on so the Rebels and the Georgians could wage war against Gen. Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons, “ER”) and defeat his treacherous Militia. Aaron Pittman (Zak Orth, “Romeo + Juliet”), a major player at Google, joined her on this suicide mission with the hope of restoring the world’s technology. Miles (Billy Burke, “The Twilight Saga”) discovered that Monroe was waiting at the Tower for Rachel and mounted a rescue mission with Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos, “Being Human”), Tom Neville (Giancarlo Esposito, “Breaking Bad”), Jason Neville (J.D. Pardo, “The Cinderella Story”) and Nora (Daniella Alonso, “My Generation”).
But our heroes soon discovered that former Dept. of Defense Secretary Randall Flynn (Colm Feore, “The Borgias”) had outwitted Monroe and hijacked the Tower for a sinister “Patriot” scheme. With help from a very reluctant Aaron, Randall turned the power back on and used the surge to deploy nuclear bombs at the Eastern seaboard.
For four minutes, the power came on across the globe creating what is now known as the Surge. But something mysterious happened to our heroes during this surge…
This season “Revolution” returns to its powerless roots and settles into Willoughby — a small town in the great nation of Texas. We flash forward three months to find Miles, Rachel and Aaron licking their wounds and lying low, aided by the town doctor, Gene Porter (Stephen Collins, “7th Heaven”). Charlie sets off on a vision quest in the Plains Nation and a desperate Neville and Jason search the Georgian Refugee Camp for their beloved Julia. Though our heroes are scattered around the continent, one thing is clear: That harrowing trip to the Tower created some peculiar circumstances and altered the political landscape of the continent.

COMING UP NEXT | Things aren't looking so good for Charlie & Co.: It's three months later and two major cities have been destroyed, the power is out again and the pendants aren't working. As a result of all that destruction, the Matheson clan is "fractured," says creator Eric Kripke. "Charlie splits up from the family" -- and gets tangled up with bounty hunter Adam (played by Gossip Girl's Patrick Heusinger) -- while "Rachel has a complete and total nervous breakdown. We pick up with Season 2 and Rachel is just coming out of what was a very serious, occasionally catatonic state, and is fragile as she has to face this new threat." That new Big Bad would be The Patriots, "an insidious conspiracy of people who are draping themselves in the American flag, but they are not America." Neville and Jason will meet one of their members, Secretary Allenford (Soul Food's Nicole Ari Parker), when they travel to the East Coast to find Julia Neville and witness the nuclear missile devastation firsthand. Monroe, meanwhile, is "indulging in women and alcohol, trying to drink and screw away the pain," previews Kripke. "He's in a much grungier, grimier place, as are all our characters. We really tried to take 'the Noxzema clean' out of the show this year."

The episode is called "Love Story" and here's how they describe it: BRUSHES WITH DEATH PAINT THE BIG PICTURE IN WILLOUGHBY, WHILE DARING RESCUE ATTEMPTS ARE MADE - Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) makes a valiant attempt to rescue Miles (Billy Burke) and to escape with an ailing Tribesman's wife, while Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) and Jason (JD Pardo) are caught off-guard, assaulted by violent refugees. Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and Adam (Patrick Heusinger) are at odds over what to do with Monroe (David Lyons). Legions of Tribesmen threaten all of Willoughby but with questionable leadership and Aaron (Zak Orth) faces death, yet again. "Revolution": Durchwachsener Start auf neuem Sendeplatz
Wie sieht die Zukunft von "Revolution" aus? In den USA hat die Serie bei NBC mit dem Mittwochabend um 20 Uhr einen neuen Sendeplatz erhalten - in dieser Woche erfolgte hier die Premiere der zweiten Staffel.
Bisher war die Endzeitserie von J.J. Abrams und Eric Kripke immer am späten Montagabend um 22 Uhr zu sehen. Nun soll die Serie jedoch die Primetime am Mittwochabend beim krisengeschüttelten NBC eröffnen.
Insgesamt 6,80 Miillionen Zuschauer schalteten zum Staffelauftakt nun ein. In der werberelevanten Zielgruppe der 18 bis 49 Jahre alten Zuschauer wurde ein Marktanteil von 6 Prozent erreicht. Damit liegt die Serie zwar noch im grünen Bereich, bei NBC dürfte man sich aber mehr erhoffen. Zumal der Dauerrenner "Law & Order" im Anschluss 9,50 Millionen Menschen und 7 Prozent Marktanteil erreiche.
Die weitere Entwicklung von "Revolution" auf dem neuen Sendeplatz wird in den nächsten Wochen spannend zu beobachten sein.
Die Casting-Show «The Voice» ist auch in Amerika sehr viel wert. Wie viel, erlebt derzeit die Drama-Serie «Revolution», die noch in der zurückliegenden Saison als Lead-Out der Gesangssendung regelmäßig glänzte. Nun muss sie das aus eigenem Antrieb schaffen, was aber nicht klappt. Am Mittwoch kam das Format ab 20.00 Uhr bei NBC nicht mehr über schlechte vier Prozent der Werberelevanten hinaus und auch insgesamt 5,39 Millionen Zuschauern so schlecht wie nie zuvor. Das bekam auch das nachfolgende Programm zu spüren. Auf ebenfalls 5,39 Millionen Zuschauer kam «Law & Order: SVU» - die Krimiserie steigerte sich immerhin bei den Jungen ein wenig: Mit fünf Prozent riss man aber ebenfalls keine Bäume aus.

A world without power is a terrifying enough concept, but the denizens of Revolution's dystopia have grown so accustomed to the horror that they're not afraid to celebrate Halloween. In the Oct. 16 episode, Rachel and the folks of Willoughby, Texas, try to show the town's kids that life does go on. "There's a homespun feel to it," says co-executive producer Anne Cofell Saunders, who also cowrote the episode. "If you watch carefully, you'll see that when kids wear an old Darth Vader or Tweety Bird mask, the costume is mismatched. They don't know the pop-culture references."
For Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Aaron (Zak Orth), the psychological scars from indirectly assisting in a nuclear strike on Atlanta and Philadelphia — and, in Aaron's case, dying and being brought back to life — are still fully in evidence.
