AFM: Julianne Moore Boards Adaptation of ‘Alice’ Novel (EXCLUSIVE)
Julianne Moore has come on board “Still Alice,” starring as a university professor in an adaptation of Lisa Genova’s novel.
“Still Alice” is scheduled to start shooting New York mid-February. CAA is representing the film in the U.S. while Memento Films Intl. handles world sales.
The project is a Lex Lutzus and James Brown production in association with Killer Films. “Still Alice” is fully financed by BSM Studio, the newly launched one-stop-shop financing venture formed between Paris-based Backup Media and Marie Savare.
Moore will portray a cognitive psychologist who faces the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
“Still Alice” has been translated into more than 25 languages and is the writing debut of Genova, who holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Harvard U.
Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland are on board to direct the adaptation. The duo also directed and wrote “The Last of Robin Hood,” which recently launched at the Toronto Film Festival, and “Quinceanera.”

29. Jan 2014: "Still Alice" handelt von einer Professorin (Moore) für Neurowissenschaften, die an sich erste Anzeichen von Alzheimer erkennt. Wie das Filmmagazin The Wrap am gestrigen 28. Januar 2014 berichtet, verkörpert Stewart die Tochter der Frau. Die Krankheit schweißt Mutter und Tochter enger zusammen.
In weitere Rollen sind Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") und Kate Bosworth ("Homefront") geschlüpft. Regie führen Richard Glatzer und Wash Westmoreland, die bereits bei "The Fluffer" zusammengearbeitet haben.

Kristen Stewart (23) ist derzeit wieder richtig dick im Geschäft. Jetzt konnte sie eine neue Rolle im Film „Still Alice“ (deutscher Titel: „Mein Leben ohne Gestern“) an Land ziehen.
Es handelt sich um ein Drama mit Julianne Moore, die eine Psychologie-Professorin mittleren Alters namens Alice spielt. Bei dieser wird ein frühes Stadium von Alzheimer diagnostiziert. Dadurch ändert sich ihr Berufs- und Familienleben dramatisch, sie muss machtlos dabei zusehen, wie ihre Erinnerungen langsam verschwinden. Kristen übernimmt die Rolle von Alice‘ Tochter Lydia.
Der Streifen basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Debüt-Roman der amerikanischen Autorin Lisa Genova, der 2007 auf den Markt kam. 40 Wochen verbrachte das Buch auf der Bestsellerliste der New York Times und wurde in 25 Sprachen übersetzt.
Die Kritiken sind super, es liegt also ein hoher Druck auf den Regisseuren Richard Glatzer und Wash Westmoreland, eine würdige Kinoverfilmung auf die Beine zu stellen. Auch im Cast von „Still Alice“ befinden sich Kate Bosworth (Anna) und Alec Baldwin (Jon).
Weitere Projekte von Kristen Stewart sind „Sils Maria“ (bereits abgedreht), „Camp X-Ray“ (auch fertig), die Komödie „American Ultra“, das Schneewittchen-Sequel „Snow White and the Huntsman 2″ sowie das Drama „Anesthesia“.

In dem Film geht es um eine Psychologin, die selbst erkennen muss, dass sie an Alzheimer erkrankt ist. Neben Kristen Stewart wirken in dem Drama auch Stars wie Julianne Moore (53), Kate Bosworth (31) und Alec Baldwin (55) mit.

Auf neuesten Fotos zeigt sich Kristen Stewart mal wieder mit einer neuen Haarfarbe. Diesmal hat sich die Schauspielerin anscheinend für den Ombré-Look entschieden und präsentiert ihre untere Haarpartie in einem hellen Kupferton.

Spätestens wenn die Dreharbeiten vorbei sind, erfahren wir, ob Kristen und Kate ihrem neuen Rot treu bleiben. Allzu lange müssen wir uns nicht mehr gedulden, denn schon im April steht Kristen Stewart für den nächsten Film vor der Kamera.

The medical genre is once again becoming a hot new style. First pioneered by Robin Cook and Michael Crichton, a new author is using her novels to explain various neurological diseases. Lisa Genova has written about Alzheimer’s, brain injuries, autism and her next novel will tackle Huntington’s Disease. She has the medial chops — as she’s a neurological researcher — to make her medical descriptions credible.
Her first novel, “Still Alice,” was a humanizing portrait of early onset Alzheimer’s and was the first book to be endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Association. It was this endorsement that pushed the author to self-publish it before finding a mainstream publisher and reprinting.
The novel is told from Alice’s point of view, which is illuminating and scary. “Still Alice” is a perennial book club favorite and we discussed it a few months ago at the Pekin Library Book Club and one participant said, “It reminded me of how we learn about history from historical fiction. I liked learning about a medical condition from the character because it made it not boring to learn about.”
You might want to pick up a copy of the book because the movie version of “Still Alice” recently began production and will feature Julianne Moore in the title role, with Alec Baldwin as her husband, John.
Kristen Stewart has signed on to play the youngest daughter, Lydia – whose fraught relationship with Alice provides the emotional center of the novel. In addition to being about a woman’s deterioration from losing her memory this is also a novel of family and choice. The relationships between Alice and her children, as well as Alice and her husband, are nuanced and representative of the different reactions family members have when a loved one is sick.
Another one of my favorite books by the author is “Left Neglected” about a high power career woman who suffers a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. I found this to be a compelling story and a good reminder of how fast life can change in an instant. It is moving and there are some parts that made me laugh out loud. The story centers on Sarah Nickerson, a 30-something working mom, who loses the left side of her world due to a traumatic brain injury. Now Sarah must give up control to those around her and regain her independence.
Genova’s most recent novel is “Love Anthony,” which weaves together the stories of two mothers on Nantucket Island. From the publisher’s description — “Olivia is a young mother whose eight-year-old severely autistic son has recently died. Her marriage badly frayed by years of stress, she comes to the island in a trial separation to try and make sense of the tragedy of her Anthony’s short life. Beth, a stay-at-home mother of three, is also recently separated after discovering her husband’s long-term infidelity. In an attempt to recapture a sense of her pre-married life, she rekindles her passion for writing, determined to find her own voice again.” The setting adds another layer to this novel and in a departure from her first two novels, this book has a somewhat mystical element.
