The winter of our discontent is almost over — The Secret Circle returns this Thursday, January 5th! “Darkness”falls at 9/8c on the CW — we’re almost there!

We’re excited for the whole freaking episode but if we had to pick, here are our top three reasons why we’re dying for “Darkness”:
Meade Family drama If walls could talk, Casa Meade would have some stories — it houses one of our heroes and one of our villains. Diana’s smart, she’s mature, she can be friends with her ex and her ex’s crush — the girl’s poise is supernaturally scary. She really loves her dad, Charles, one of our show’s baddies. He’s not quite as wicked as Dawn, his partner in crime, but he did burn Cassie’s mom to death, which is seriously villainous. We can’t wait to see where Charles’ mom Kate fits into the Meade family dynamic.
This week, on As Chance Harbor Turns…, hearts are breaking quicker than magically bound coffins! “Darkness” was all about the push-pull of attraction — will Diana & Adam give into the connection between them? When we last left Cassie and Co, they were standing on a flaming deck, watching Jake sail quietly into that good night. We were like !!! and ?!? and DYING to find out what happened! But the holidays just had to come along and put the whole thing on hiatus. Not cool, Christmas/ Hanukkah/Solstice/NewYear’s! Not cool at all! But now that nonsense is over, we’re back in witchy, bitchy business, baby!
“Darkness” opens with Cassie getting a midnight visit from Jake. Boom chika chika wow wow! But it’s not a sexytimes sort of visit, unless crippling insecurity counts as sexytimes for you (in which case, call us!). Jake shows up to voice Cassie’s inner fear — she’s destined to be a baddie because of her dad’s rotten family. But it turns out that Jake isn’t really there — Cassie’s just dreaming about him. Who isn’t.

This week on The Secret Circle, episode 1.11, “Fire & Ice”, Faye does some bad, bad magic, hurts the rest of the Circle, and steals Cassie‘s power! And then Cassie, she of the famed unlimited reserves of dark power, confronts Faye and… dun dun dun… calls her a bitch.
Okay, so as far as comebacks go, Cassie’s seems a little weaksauce, but everything else in the promo looks freaking awesome. And Cass is new at being bad — we’re sure she’ll have something a little more menacing whipped up by Thursday.
The facts are these: Our beloved Faye has had a rough go of it lately. She’s not allowed to do magic on her own— major bummer. And that piece of tall, blonde and handsome that Cassie’s been so taken with recently? Why, he’s her ex. It’s not exactly a secret that Faye is due for a break and if that break happens to have sizzling cheekbones, even better. Enter Lee LaBeque, supposed voodoo priest and definite total hottie. We’re pretty sure these crazy kids are gonna get together — based on Lee’s “carrassing with feather” routine, they’re probably married in some cultures. So the question is this: Are we on board with this bewitching hook-up or are we protesting? Let’s examine the evidence.
