ProSieben zeigt "Primeval: New World" ab April


Am 5. April startet ProSieben mit der Ausstrahlung der neuen Serie "Primeval: New World", einer kanadisch-amerikanischen Adaption der britischen Serie "Primeval - Rückkehr der Urzeitmonster". Diesmal haben Dinosaurier und viele weitere Kreaturen aus der Vergangenheit und auch aus der Zukunft es auf Vancouver abgesehen. Mit dabei ist unter anderen auch die aus "Vampire Diaries" bekannte Sara Canning. Fans der Originalserie dürfen sich darüber hinaus über einen Gastauftritt von Andrew Lee Potts freuen, der in "Primeval" als Connor zu sehen war.

"Primeval: New World" zeigt eine Reihe von brutalen Todesfällen in Vancouver. So wurde beispielsweise ein Base-Jumper mitten in der Luft grausam verstümmelt und die Behörden rätseln, ob es sich um einen Raubtierangriff handelt. Dieser ist mitten in der Großstadt unwahrscheinlich, doch der Unternehmer Evan Cross (Niall Matter) kann wichtige Hinweise liefern. Seine Frau Brooke (Kimberly Sustad) wurde vor Jahren von einem Dinosaurier getötet, der durch ein seltsames, gleißend helles Phänomen in die Gegenwart gelangt ist. Cross hat es sich seitdem zur Aufgabe gemacht, nach Anomalien zu suchen, obwohl Ange (Miranda Frigon), Finanzexpertin in seiner Firma, ihn davor warnt die gesamten Forschungsbudgets dafür auszugeben. Zu seinem Team gehören Toby (Crystal Lowe), Mac (Danny Rahim) und Dylan (Sara Canning).

ProSieben zeigt alle 13 Episoden der Serie immer freitags gegen 22:45 Uhr. Zum Auftakt laufen drei Episoden am Stück, danach immer Doppelfolgen.

“7 Questions” With … Sara Canning of Syfy’s “Primeval New World”

Fans shed more than a few tears when character Sara Canning played exited The Vampire Diaries in 2011, but they’ll get a chance to see the actress back in action this month as Primeval: New World comes to Syfy (Saturday, June 8, at 10pm ET). The North American spinoff of the British series has Canning playing a predator-control expert who suddenly finds herself trying to wrangle dinosaurs that have found their way to modern-day Vancouver via temporal anomalies. The 25-year-old Canadian native also used to write a blog for teen.com, and was a competitive figure skater in her youth.



1. You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose?
National Geographic, Vanity Fair and Kinfolk.


2. Your DVR can only carry three shows. Which ones would you want?
The Newsroom, Homeland and The Office.


3. What has been your strangest fan encounter?
I’ve had a few people actually ask me to sign other people’s photos. I’ve had a number of people send me photos of Candice Accola, a girl I worked with on The Vampire Diaries. She’s beautiful and so lovely, so I guess I’ll take it as a compliment, but I always find it funny.


4. Tell me about a time when you were starstruck.
I met Jeff Bridges a few years ago. I actually heard his voice coming down the hallway before I saw him. I am such a huge fan, and all I could think was, “The Dude is walking down the hallway towards me right now!” He’s just so easily funny, and such a lovely man. I think he really enjoys what he does, and really enjoys meeting and talking with people.


5. Name three things you must have in your fridge or pantry.
Dark chocolate. Some kind of oatmeal or breakfast cereal, because I’m so hungry the second I wake up. And I always try to keep ingredients for impromptu birthdays around. I like to bake for all my friends’ birthdays in Vancouver. … It’s always fun to throw a bunch of cake at them, because I love baking but I don’t like to keep hundreds of cupcakes around.


6. You were a competitive figure skater and now an actress, so what’s your favorite figure-skating movie?
Oh, wow. I don’t know if I have a favorite figure-skating movie. When I was a kid, I just was obsessed with watching Nationals and the Olympics and everything in between. I never really watched that many figure-skating movies. I was hardcore about the real stuff.


7. Do you still keep up with The Vampire Diaries?
I have to be honest, I’m a little behind with the storylines. I had the lovely opportunity to go back and do the Season 3 finale, and I really love them all. Whenever I get to chat with them, I do find out more from just sitting down and having lunch with the cast members, what’s going on. I’m so behind on TV in general, it’s really awful. I just download things on the run to watch while I’m on planes.
