Hart of Dixie Exclusive: Rachel Bilson Gets a New Ally, to Replace Nancy Travis
The CW’s upcoming fall charmer, Hart of Dixie, has found a new confidante for Rachel Bilson’s Dr. Zoe Hart.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Eisa Davis, who has guest-starred on series such as The Wire (as Bubbles’ sister) and Law & Order (twice as ADA Danvers), has landed the recurring role of Addy Pickett, a nurse with 15 years experience at the Alabama medical practice Bilson’s big city doc inherits in the pilot (airing Monday, Sept. 26, at 9/8c).
Described as both “warm and acerbic,” Addy unwittingly takes on the role of mentor to Zoe, and ultimately becomes a champion of the change her new boss is bringing to the tight-knit town.
Actress Nancy Travis occupies a similar role in Hart of Dixie‘s pilot, but is set to quietly exit the series a few episodes in due to her series-regular status on ABC’s new fall comedy Last Man Standing.
A Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright, Davis’ TV credits also include Damages and Showtime’s Soul Food: The Series.
Hart of Dixie Exclusive: Smallville's Justin Hartley Cast as Love Interest For [Spoiler Alert]
Smallville‘s Justin Hartley is headed back to The CW fold with a plum gig on Hart of Dixie, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.
The once (and future?) Green Arrow has targeted the role of Jesse, a charming Southerner and war hero who becomes a potential love interest for Rachel Bilson’s Zoe.
Hartley will turn up on Dixie this spring.
In the meantime, you can catch the actor in the Jan. 23 episode of Castle playing the boyfriend of a Kim Kardashian-like reality-TV starlet who is famous just for being famous.

Hart of Dixie Star Wilson Bethel Predicts Wade and Zoe's Future!
Wade (Wilson Bethel) and Zoe (Rachel Bilson) sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G?!
OK, so maybe Hart of Dixie's fan favorite couple will not be sitting in a tree when the CW show returns tonight, but that doesn't mean there won't possibly be kissing! Our Kristin Dos Santos caught up with Mr. Bethel, who was unfortunately fully clothed during ou chat, and he talked about the possibility of more Zoe and Wade smooches by season's end. Plus, how is he feeling about Wade's chances against George (Scott Porter) for Zoe's affections?
Oh, what's that? You want to see Bethel take his clothes off? Why didn't you ask sooner?! Here you go...
Yes friends, Bethel starts off the interview unbuttoning his dapper vest. Alas, it was but a joke and he remained covered up. But why? "They usually end up putting makeup over my third nipple," Bethel jokes.
Our next order of business was to find out what's ahead for Zoe and Wade. Bethel, who proclaims he is Team Wade (duh!) teases, "The truth is I don't know where the season is going to end up, but I will say in my heart of hearts, I feel like you're going to have one more bona fide Wade and Zoe makeout before the season is over. That is how I feel."
Later, Bethel reiterates how badly he wants Zoe and Wade together (or at least for them to smooch again), telling us, "I want Zoe and Wade to end up together enough that I'm willing to believe that's going to happen. I think it is." Wilson Bethel, president of the "Zade" fan club, y'all!
When we chatted with Bethel earlier in the season, we asked him about his one-episode stint on The O.C. as Bilson's kissing-booth partner. So what's the vibe like between the costars now? "There's a lot of that post-O.C. kiss discomfort," Bethel jokes. "We're always looking at each other longingly over the watercooler, like, 'Oh my god, it was all that time ago, but still, there's all this.'"
So is Bethel shocked by all the fan support for Wade? "A little bit," he admits, saying costar Scott Porter is "legit competition." "If I was competing for a girl and Scott Porter was on the other end of the competition, I'd be a little salty," he says. "He's also got a bit of a deck stacked against him, you know, that he's engaged to Lemon (Jamie King)."
Still, Bethel thinks Wade and Zoe are meant to be. "It's been really amazing to see the amount of fan support for the Zoe and Wade connection. I'm also incredibly happy to see it because I'm Team Wade, man. I think Wade and Zoe belong together." See, we told you: he's a "Zade" fanboy!
Hart of Dixie returns tonight at 9 p.m. on the CW.

Hart of Dixie Boss Promises Zoe and Wade Fans Will Be 'Very Happy' With Season 2
Last we saw Hart of Dixie‘s Wade and Zoe, the unrequited-no-more lovers were in the midst of a steamy hookup when a newly single George popped by to drop the “L” word on the pint-sized doc. So, which burly, Bluebell boy will Zoe choose in Season 2? Showrunner Leila Gerstein won’t reveal that twist just yet, but she does have a tease that spells smoother sailing for at least one ‘ship.
“I’m sure that Wade fans are going to be very, very happy,” she tells TVLine of how things pan out early on for the lovelorn barkeep. “What we have done so far [in Season 2] is very strong for ‘Zade’ fans.”
That said — the that, of course, being that Zoe seemingly picks Wade — Gerstein is quick to note that the series’ signature “love triangle is going to continue to exist,” regardless of which guy initially gets the girl.
“It’s more heightened [now] because Zoe’s actually had sex with Wade and also declared her feelings to George — and then had them reciprocated,” the EP explains. “What was a crush on George has turned into him calling off his wedding and making a huge gesture for her; and what was sexual chemistry with Wade has turned into full-on sex. So, there’s still a lot of push and pull on Zoe, and you will feel both sides continually — even though she does make a decision.”

‘Hart of Dixie’ season 2 finale spoilers: Boss talks cliffhanger leading into season 3
While “Hart of Dixie” season 3 has not been formally announced just yet, we have to imagine that it will be official at some point in the coming weeks. After all, it’s the only show airing on Monday or Tuesday nights on The CW that has any sort of consistency to it. Plus, it manages to do as well as it does without a substantial amount of promotion behind it.
Based on what the show’s creator is planning for the last episode of the season, it’s also pretty easy to tell that she more than expects the show to stick around until a season 3, as well. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, here is what Leila Gerstein has to say:
“This is 100 percent not meant to be a series ender … We leave on a cliffhanger, with everyone being sent off for the summer [and our plans to] pick up in Season 3 after some time had passed.”
Gerstein also said that there were some big character moments in the episode for people across the board, including for Zoe / Wade, Zoe / George, Zoe / Jonah, and also even a few moments for Lemon and Levon. We don’t know if there will be any new couplings at all, but expect this hour to be one that shows how far Wade and Lemon have specifically grown since their days on the pilot. This is a show where characters evolve over time, and we have to hope that this evolution will drive some future stories.

‘Hart of Dixie’ season 2 finale spoilers: Zoe’s surprise on the way to New York City
Are you ready for the season finale of “Hart of Dixie” to arrive? While we’re sure that there is a part of you that is certainly excited to see the major shockers that unfold here, we can’t say that we want to rush it, given the mere fact that part of the fun is in the journey.
Nonetheless, we have some of the first concrete details now for the episode titled “On the Road Again,” which is going to feature Rachel Bilson’s Zoe trying to get a little R&R back in a familiar place. Unfortunately for her, it appears as though she is going to be forced to deal with some other problems in the process:
“After having a rough time in BlueBell, Zoe (Rachel Bilson) decides a little time in New York City might be the perfect opportunity to give her some much needed perspective. But a medical emergency on the plane forces her to complete the trip with an unexpected companion. George (Scott Porter) struggles with his constant relationship misfortunes, until he runs in to Lily Anne (guest star Amy Ferguson), who helps him with his heartache. When Lemon (Jaime King) promises that the Rammer Jammer will be having a special concert with the band Gloriana, she must scramble to make it happen, with the less-than-enthusiastic help of Wade (Wilson Bethel). Meanwhile, Lavon (Cress Williams) discovers that the opposing town’s Mayor has stolen something dear to him and enlists the help of the townspeople to get it back.”
The primary thing that comes across as surprising about this promo is that really, there is no mentioning at all of Zoe being anywhere near Wade or George during the episode. While we’re sure it will happen at some point, this triangle has become in many ways the foundation of this show.
