Julie Plec plaudert Vampire Diaries-Spin-off: Verliebt Klaus sich neu?
Freitag, 05. April 2013 | 19:22 Uhr
Kleine Aktualisierung vom The Vampire Diaries Spin Off " The Originals "
Behind the Scene : First Look at the " Orginials "
According to a recent tweet from Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec, the first episode of The Originals began filming on Tuesday (March 5) which means that TVD’s spin-off is officially underway! And in celebration of this momentous occasion, Chris Grismer (who has worked on TVD, Pretty Little Liars, and The Secret Circle) is directing the backdoor pilot and posted a few photos of the gorgeous cast (Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Phoebe Tonkin) hanging out on set. Check them out in action below!
Joseph who plays the malicious yet alluring Klaus, also joined in on the fun with a a little teaser for fans: “Day one. Forget what you know, or what you think you know #beoriginal.”Ahh! Whatever does he mean by that? Guess we’ll have to wait until April 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW to find out for sure!
So tell us, lovelies: Will you be tuning in to this very special episode of The Vampire Diaries come April?
Sneak Peek Fotos from the " Orginials " Pilot : Joseph Morgan as Klaus , Daniel Gillies as Elijah and more
It’s no secret that fans of The Vampire Diaries are excited for the spin-off series The Originals. A weekly dose of Mikaelson family drama and tantalizing supernatural mysteries? We don’t know about you but that sounds like the perfect follow-up to Mystic Falls mayhem for sure! And during TVD Season 4, Episode 20, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt) will be heading down to New Orleans to shake things up much like Stefan and Damon did in “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street.”
However, this getaway is anything but a spring break for the most vicious fang gang of all. They aren’t hitting up the Big Easy to toss back shots, snap their fingers to jazz music, collect bead necklaces in return for wild antics, and chow down on craw-fish. While the sophisticated Mikaelson clan definitely plans on soaking in as much southern culture as possible, they’re there strictly on business terms. What business exactly? We can’t say yet (hint: it’s a dark and dangerous mission), but we do we have new images from the backdoor pilot episode to share with you below!
Enjoy a first glimpse of the Originals and its cast members (including Charles Michael David as Marcel, Daniella Pineda as Sophie, Leah Pipes as Camille, and Phoebe Tonkin as Hayley) in the gallery below. For more juicy photos and spoilers about The Originals, be sure to pick up a copy of this week’s Entertainment Weekly issue from newsstands!
Klaus kehrt zu seiner Vergangenheit in New Orleans zurück.

Vampire Diaries: The CW bestellt Spin-off The Originals
Laut TV.com schicken sie „The Originals“ in Serie.
'Vampire Diaries' Joseph Morgan Q&A: 'The Originals is epic'
We love The Vampire Diaries here at Digital Spy (like, possibly a little too much) so you can imagine how excited we were when we heard about the show's spinoff - which will focus on Klaus and the Original family in New Orleans. Yeah, I know, amazing.
Anyway, this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries (airing tomorrow on ITV2, fact fans) will act as a pilot for the series, so we called up Joseph Morgan for a quick chat about what the show's about, what it means for Klaus and Caroline, and also what we can expect from the final few episodes of this season of The Vampire Diaries...
Are you excited about 'The Originals' finally airing? You must have been looking forward to it for a while! "Yeah, definitely - ever since I signed on and certainly since I read the script and we went up to New Orleans to film it and everything. But yeah, absolutely - there's been loads of anticipation and even before it was ever a real thing there were all these fanmade trailers about it, so I just hope now it lives up to people's expectations. I'm excited for everyone to see all the work we put in!"
So can you give us an overview about what this episode is about? "It's set in New Orleans - New Orleans is a town where the Original family used to live at around the turn of the century. We actually built the town - myself and my young protégé Marcel - and then my family and I had to leave unexpectedly. So while I'm in Mystic Falls I hear that some witches there are plotting against me - they're starting to make a move against me - so I go back to New Orleans. The idea plays on my mind that someone is trying to play against me or do something against me and my ego, my vanity gets the better of me and I go back to see who it is. And in doing that, I open up a whole can of worms where my young protégé is now running New Orleans, running the town, and he's got the humans to look the other way, he's controlling the witches, he's driven out the werewolves, he's got the whole town in the palm of his hand. I see that and I go, 'Wait a minute, that should be me - I was the one who built this town with him'. What the episode is about is me realising, 'Wait a second, I want this - I want what he's got'."
Now The Originals has been picked up to become a series on its own, what will that be about? "I think the overriding theme of our storylines within The Vampire Diaries has always been about family. We can do terrible things to our family members but woe betide the person from outside who comes in and tries to mess with us! And so I think that's going to be a theme of the series - family. And then also the sort of power struggle. Vampire Diaries is kind of a coming of age story, and I think The Originals is definitely more sort of epic. It's even in the backdoor pilot that you'll see - it's almost like a war is brewing. It's on a grander scale - it's less about prom and more about a war between the vampires and the witches. So it's good!"
You mentioned family just then - the Mikaelsons must be one of the most dysfunctional families ever! I mean, Klaus just betrayed Rebekah with Silas and the cure - what's going on with them at the moment? "It's probably at its most fragile since he daggered her in the '20s, I think! She's absolutely done with him, and he is with her. Essentially they've reached a point where they just don't want the same thing at all. Rebekah, I think, wants the cure - she wants to be human again, she wants to be loved, she's looking for all of these feelings. And Klaus, he wants something entirely different. He embraces his true nature and he thinks the very things that she loves are the things that make her weak. I suppose that's ironic, because he loves her and probably his vulnerability in terms of family is one of the things that make him weak. But yeah, they're not in a good place right now. Elijah wants her to come to New Orleans with him so they can all be together and they can tackle this thing that's going on down there as a family, and I don't think Rebekah's very keen on that idea."
You mentioned Klaus's vulnerability in terms of family, but we've also seen him vulnerable in terms of Caroline recently. What's coming up for them? "Well, this is interesting, isn't it? I would say with the tremendous outpouring of support from the fans for The Originals, the one thing that's been in question the whole time is what's going to happen with Caroline now? Because two characters, each on different shows - you're putting an ocean between them. But I'll say this - I know that there's no other love interest in the near future for Klaus. I know that he's very much still enamoured with Caroline Forbes - he's still very much interested in that.
"And I think there's a huge amount of crossovers planned for the two shows. The whole idea is to expand this world which [executive producers] Julie [Plec] and Kevin [Williamson] created, and so I think that I would be really surprised if we didn't see the characters crossing over. Or at least pen pals! That would be very Klaus, wouldn't it? Very kind of old school, writing her beautiful letters, beautiful calligraphy, from New Orleans. But I can also reveal that there's reference to it in the 'Originals' episode, which I think there needed to be. It's not just like, 'Oh, wait a minute, what happened about Caroline? Why isn't he concerned about that?' And I think there are scenes coming up... Also I know that Julie and all the writers are very much aware of how important that is to the fans, and it will be treated with respect and with care."
It's interesting you say there are no other love interests in Klaus's near future, because Hayley's in 'The Originals' and last time she was with Klaus they shared an amorous moment, shall we say! But there's nothing going on with them? "I can't wait for you to see the episode - it's going to blow your mind! Do you know what, it's made reference to in the episode, what happened between them. I don't think there's a future in that way for those characters, but what we've done is given a complicated history to them so already there's something between them, which makes things a little more complicated. I think it's just making things a little more interesting - it's stirring the pot a little more.
"And also I like that whole storyline. I feel like he is extremely flawed, Klaus, and the fact that he would sort of be keeping himself pure for Caroline - it's not realistic in terms of the character. I think no matter how much he loves her he still makes huge mistakes and errors of judgement all the time - talk about not learning from the last thousand years! But yeah, I think it only serves to make things more interesting and make him more rounded as a character."
We're almost at the end of this season of The Vampire Diaries now - what hints can you give us about Silas and the cure in these last couple episodes? "They're actually shooting scenes from the last three episodes at the moment, filling in all the gaps, everything they missed. And I can tell you... I mean, when I read the finale the main thing I wanted to know is, 'Who's going to get the cure?' That's what I was the most excited about - who on Earth is going to get the cure? And I can tell you it's not what you think. I can tell you that it's going to be... I think it's going to be a surprise for everyone. It certainly took me unawares. There's also some appearances in the coming episodes which people should get very excited about. There's some characters that people should be excited to see."
Some familiar faces? "[Ums and ahhs] Possibly some familiar faces, yes! I'm on the line now, you know what I mean?"
I guess I don't want to get you in trouble! "Exactly!"

Ian Somerhalder im Interwiev über den Spin Off von Vampire Diaries - Originals Ian Somerhalder worried about ‘Vamp Diaries’ spin-off
Somerhalder is unsure how 'The Originals' will affect 'The Vampire Diaries,' confirms he will not be guesting on the off-shoot.
May 16, 2013 10:44:00 AM
Since The CW announced the pick-up of The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals, Mystic Falls regulars have been anxiously wondering how the new show will affect the, well, original. Apparently this worry extends to the Vampire Diaries cast as well, as star Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) was compelled to express his own concerns about the series at a Toronto event Wednesday.
While at promo party for Cree LED light bulbs, a product he is advocating through the environment-conscious Ian Somerhalder Foundation, Somerhalder noted he’s nervous about The Originals, particularly whether it will — for lack of a better word — suck some of the viewer-grabbing magic that TVD has conjured over four seasons.
“To be honest with you, it makes me a little uneasy,” Somerhalder said of the spin-off. “Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt and Daniel Gillies are phenomenal actors. For selfish reasons and for our show — for the integrity of our show, I don’t want to see them leave.”
Somerhalder said he is “unclear” on how The Originals is going to function in conjunction with TVD. He believes Morgan, Holt and Gillies, who play original vampires Klaus, Rebekah and Elijah, respectively, will “float back and forth” between the shows, but really “[doesn't] know.”
One person who will not be floating between the shows is Somerhalder himself. He vehemently noted that his character, Damon Salvatore, will not be appearing on The Originals.
No floating!” he said when asked about possible guest spots. “Just treading.”
In addition to commenting on The Originals, Somerhalder also offered some limited scoop on Thursday’s TVD finale. “Elena does make a very important decision,” Somerhalder teased, likely referring to Nina Dobrev’s character’s own romantic back-and-forth between the two Salvatore brothers.
While the actor/activist wouldn’t get specific as to which way Elena sways, the following addendum could point to some future depression for Delena fans. (Or perhaps Somerhalder’s feelings towards his recent real-life break-up with Dobrev.)
“In life … we really want things to happen and they don’t happen the way we want them to,” Somerhalder says. “We are in love with someone and we can’t have them, or we can have them but it’s not right. These are things that we all go through and it’s been happening to Damon all season.”
The Vampire Diaries finale airs Thursday, May 16 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. It will be rebroadcast on CTV Two next Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
Family is power. The Original Vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together, always and forever. Now, centuries have passed and the bonds of family are broken. Time, tragedy and hunger for power have torn the Original Family apart. When Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, receives a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, he returns to the city his family helped build. Klaus’ questions lead him to a reunion with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel, a charismatic vampire who has total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans. Determined to help his brother find redemption, Elijah follows Klaus and soon learns that the werewolf Hayley has also come to the French Quarter searching for clues to her family history, and has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie. Tensions between the town’s supernatural factions are nearing a breaking point as Marcel commands his devoted followers and rules with absolute power. For Klaus, the thought of answering to his powerful protégé is unthinkable, and he vows to reclaim what was once his – the power, the city and his family. While they wait to see if their sister Rebekah will leave Mystic Falls and join them, Klaus and Elijah form an uneasy alliance with the witches to ensure that New Orleans will be ruled by THE ORIGINALS once again. The series stars Joseph Morgan (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Immortals”) as Klaus, Daniel Gillies (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Saving Hope”) as Elijah, Claire Holt (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”) as Rebekah, Phoebe Tonkin (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Secret Circle”) as Hayley, Charles Michael Davis (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Switched at Birth”) as Marcel, Daniella Pineda (“The Fitzgerald Family Christmas,” “Homeland”) as Sophie, Leah Pipes (“The Deep End,” “Sorority Row”) as Cami and Danielle Campbell (“Starstruck,” “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection”) as Davina. THE ORIGINALS is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with My So-Called Company, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”), Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl”) and Gina Girolamo (“The Lying Game”) are executive producers. Plec wrote the pilot episode, which was directed by Chris Grismer (“The Vampire Diaries”).
Staffel von The Vampire Diaires.
Alles was also in der 20.
'The Originals' new premiere episode: What's coming for 'The Vampire Diaries' spinoff?
By Laurel Brown May 24, 2013 5:40 PM ET
"The Originals," a spinoff of The CW's hit series, "The Vampire Diaries," technically premiered with a backdoor pilot episode during the past "TVD" season. But the show is now getting an independent premiere of its own -- a new episode will be shot during the summer.
What will fans see in this new premiere?
Chronologically, the new "Originals" premiere will follow the backdoor pilot. That episode -- and everything that happened in it -- will still exist in the show's universe. The purpose of the new premiere is instead to move the story forward and to introduce the characters and concepts to new viewers who may not have watched "The Vampire Diaries" in the past.
There will also be a new character, Davina. Played by Danielle Campbell, this character is a witch in New Orleans who gets tied up in Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) return to town. Davina was originally supposed to be in the backdoor pilot, but the part was cut during editing.
It's important to note that this new premiere is not supposed to replace the already-aired pilot in any way. All of the big events -- Klaus' return to New Orleans, his conflict with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and the reveal that Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant with Klaus' child -- will remain part of the show's chronology.
The new episode will just show us what happens next.
Exclusive : Charles Michael Davis Teases " The Originals " and Marcel`s Past
When we chatted with Joseph Morgan about The Originals pilot, the fang actor who plays Klaus Mikaelson on the series, had nothing but praise for his long-time friend and cast mate Charles Michael Davis. He described Charles as being “magnificent” and “absolutely fantastic” as Marcel. He even joked that Charles was so “exuberant” in his role, that the show should just be centered around him!
Well, we finally caught up with the mesmerizing Mr. Davis and discovered that Joseph was not exaggerating at all. Charles is not only a gifted entertainer but he’s also a gracious and well-spoken one. And his smile is so bright and genuine in person, that one flash of it can drive Dementors away quicker than a Patronus charm!
Get better acquainted with the actor through our exclusive interview with him at the CW’s 2013 upfront presentation in NYC!
Alloy Entertainment: What was your initial reaction to The Originals making it onto the CW’s Fall 2013 line-up? Charles Michael Davis: I was pretty confident from the beginning that The Originals was going to be picked up because I watch The Vampire Diaries and think it’s just such an amazing show — but of course you can’t celebrate until you receive confirmation. But we were picked up to series the day right after the [backdoor] pilot aired so I was feeling great. To film a pilot and have it air and then you get a response so soon? I was overjoyed. I really was.
Alloy Entertainment: Did you do anything special to celebrate? We saw you and Leah Pipes tweeted about making a smoothie run. Charles Michael Davis: Yes! That did happen actually. We got a chocolate peanut butter smoothie. Non-dairy. It was delicious. All my dreams came true. And here I am right now! (Laughs)
Alloy Entertainment: Will we get glimpses into Marcel’s past at all? Charles Michael Davis: You’ll definitely learn more about how he got to this point in his life. He was a street rat, kind of came from nothing, and he’s crafty. And so I think we’re going to discover firsthand what that experience was like for Marcel — of growing up on the streets of New Orleans and making that turn; of becoming confident and transitioning from an Aladdin life into a leadership role.
Alloy Entertainment: What’s your secret confidence trick when slipping into character as Marcel? Charles Michael Davis: I watch a lot of Ray Lewis videos. That swagger that he comes out with is so intense and incredible and me being a former athlete — I can relate to that. And it gets me going. I pound my chest. I jump and down. I scream. (Laughs)
Alloy Entertainment: What is at the top of your Originals wish list? Charles Michael Davis: I hope that Kol comes back and lives. He’s a really interesting character and I think there are a lots of stories to explore there.
The Originals: Behind-the-Scenes Pics of the Season 1 Photoshoot!

Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies Behind the Scenes of the Originals Cast Photoshoot
Season 1 of The Originals won’t premiere until October, but we’re already getting an inside look at the Vampire Diaries spin-off!
On Tuesday, May 21, Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Daniella Pineda, Leah Pipes, and Danielle Campbell met up at CW Studios in LA for their first official cast photoshoot.
“Photo shoot with the extremely talented and suitably sexy cast of The Originals,” Joseph tweeted. “So it begins. #beoriginal”
Who Is Davina on The Originals? What You Need to Know About the Witch
Based on the news that The Originals is shooting a new pilot for the fall, we imagine we’ll be seeing a lot more of Davina (Danielle Campbell) in the new show’s first episode.
Though Davina had some scenes in the backdoor pilot — which aired as part of The Vampire Diaries Season 4 — they were cut. “She would be too much of a cliffhanger for the show,” Danielle Campbell told Wetpaint Entertainment at the CW Upfronts.
So what can we expect from this mystery girl come fall? It sounds like both Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) want Davina on their side when it comes to their fight over who will control New Orleans. Danielle explains, “She is a very powerful witch who gets stuck in the power struggle. So it’s going to be very exciting. There’s a lot of surprises with her.”
It sounds like Davina hasn’t picked a side yet, because Danielle adds, “You’re gonna see her character grow a lot.”
So what makes this magical miss such a hot commodity? “She’s a witch who has a lot of power, more than is good for her,” Danielle tells TVFanatic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davina has a dark side. Her guardians attempted to protect her from the outside world, but she’s captivated by New Orleans.
Who Is Sophie on The Originals? What You Need to Know About the Witch
In the pilot for The Originals, The Vampire Diaries’ new spin-off, we met a witch named Sophie (Daniella Pineda). In the space of the episode, she lost her sister to Marcel’s (Charles Michael Davis) machinations, revealed herself to be a walking EPT test, and teamed up with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to take down New Orleans’ top vampire. So what do we know about Sophie, the witch who makes a mean batch of gumbo?
Sophie will just as soon make you that bowl of gumbo as plot your demise. “Sophie is a very genuine but no-BS kinda gal,” Daniella Pineda tells TVFanatic. “And she’s needed very much by Joseph Morgan to take down Marcel. So she might not be as powerful as a vampire, but she’s a certainly strategist and she’s necessary for this story.”
At The CW Upfronts, Daniella told Wetpaint Entertainment, “She’s like Buffy the Witch Slayer. … She’s kinda slaying vampires, but she’s a witch. But she also needs vampires in order to take down the main vampire. “
Sophie and her sister, Jane-Anne, captured Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), once Sophie — using her magical pregnancy-perceiving power — discovered the werewolf is due to have Klaus’s baby. The witches realized they could use the information as leverage to get the Original to help defeat Marcel. As the self-proclaimed “king of New Orleans,” Marcel forbids witches from practicing spell.
When Marcel learns that Jane-Anne performed magic (she was helping her sister take Hayley hostage), he kills her for breaking his rules. Though the two siblings had already planned on taking out Marcel, but Jane-Anne’s death convinced Sophie that it needed to be done. She proceeded with her sister’s plan, telling Klaus that Hayley is pregnant with his child. She explains, “as keepers of the balance we [witches] still know when nature has cooked up something new. For example, I have a special gift of sensing when a girl is pregnant.”
Apparently Sophie is responsible for Hayley and the baby thanks to the spell performed by her sister; that doesn’t mean she won’t kill it, though. She told Klaus, “Because of Jane-Anne's sacrifice, the lives of this girl and her baby are now controlled by us. If you don't help us take down Marcel, so help me, Hayley won't live long enough to see her first maternity dress.”
Eventually, Klaus comes around. But just killing Marcel won’t do the trick. Sophie tells Klaus there are rules. Instead, she explains her plan to the hybrid. “Your brother needs to cement his place in Marcel's world. His inner circle, the daywalkers-- that's where we begin. They're his friends, his family. We'll be hitting him where it hurts.”
Daniella wasn’t kidding about Sophie being a strategic thinker! We can’t wait to see what this witch has in store for the vampires of New Orleans!
