‘Texas Chainsaw’s Alexandra Daddario, ‘Twilight Saga’s Elizabeth Reaser, 2 ‘Wire’ Alums Join New HBO Series ‘True Detective’
EXCLUSIVE: Alexandra Daddario, star of the recent No.1 movie Texas Chainsaw 3D, Elizabeth Reaser, co-star of the blockbuster Twilight Saga franchise and The Wire alums Wood Harris and Michael Potts have joined the cast of True Detective, HBO‘s upcoming eight-episode drama series starring Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. The project is described as an elevated serial narrative with multiple perspectives and time frames. It centers on two detectives, Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case was reopened. Michelle Monaghan was recently cast as the female lead, Hart’s wife Maggie. Daddario will play Lisa Tragnetti, a sexy court reporter whose relationship with Hart takes a dark turn for them both. Reaser will play Laurie Perkins, Cohle’s (McConaughey) pretty, refined girlfriend, a surgeon who works at the hospital with Maggie, and has dated Cohle for 4 years. Potts will play Maynard Gilbough, a cerebral detective. Harris will play Detective Thomas Papania, Gilbough’s partner. The two question Hart and Cohle about the 1995 case and feel the duo is hiding something. Daddario, repped by UTA and McKeon Myones, next reprises her role as Annabeth in the Percy Jackson sequel Sea Of Monsters. Reaser played the lead on the CBS series The Ex List and has done arcs on The Good Wife and Grey’s Anatomy.

Ladies first: Michelle Monaghan, Alexandra Daddario und Elizabeth Reaser haben jeweils eine Hauptrolle in HBOs True Detective ergattert. Weitere Hauptrollen wurden zudem an Wood Harris und Michael Potts vergeben.
Drei Damen und zwei Buben für „True Detective“: Michelle Monaghan („Eagle Eye“, „Source Code“, „Due Date“) hat die weibliche Hauptrolle in der neuen HBO-Krimiserie an Land gezogen. Für weitere Hauptrollen unterzeichneten Alexandra Daddario („Percy Jackson - Diebe im Olymp“, „Texas Chainsaw 3D“), Elizabeth Reaser („Grey's Anatomy“, „The Ex List“), Wood Harris („The Wire“, „Dredd“) und Michael Potts („Fletchers Visionen“, „The Wire“), wie Deadline Hollywood meldet.
„True Detective“ wird als serielle Erzählung aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und Zeitfenstern beschrieben. Im Fokus der Handlung stehen die zwei Ermittler Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) und Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), die über 17 Jahre lang Jagd auf einen Serienkiller in Louisiana machen. Die Untersuchung eines bizarren Mordfalls aus dem Jahr 1995 ist mit Zeugenaussagen aus dem Jahr 2012 eingerahmt und verflechtet.
Monaghan porträtiert Maggie Hart. Sie ist die Ehefrau von Martin Hart (Harrelson), die eine schwere Entscheidung treffen muss, die weitreichende und verheerende Konsequenzen nach sich ziehen wird. Daddario verkörpert Lisa Tragnetti, eine attraktive Gerichtsschreiberin. Ihre Beziehung zu Hart soll eine düstere Wendung für sie und ihn nehmen.
Reaser mimt Laurie Perkins, Cohles (McConaughey) hübsche und kultivierte Freundin. Sie arbeitet als Chirurgin in demselben Krankenhaus wie Maggie und ist seit vier Jahren mit Cohle zusammen. Potts und Harris spielen Maynard Gilbough und Thomas Papania, die Cohle und Hart zum Fall aus dem Jahr 1995 befragen. Sie beschleicht jedoch das dumpfe Gefühl, dass die beiden etwas zu verheimlichen haben.
Nic Pizzolatto steuerte das Drehbuch zum Pilotskript bei und Cary Fukunaga wird Regie führen. Pizzolatto und Fukunaga sind zudem neben Richard Brown und Steve Golin als ausführende Produzenten tätig. Einen Producer-Credit erhält Bard Dorros. Hinter der Serie steht das Produktionsstudio Anonymous Content.
Für die erste Staffel von „True Detective“ ließ HBO acht Episoden herstellen. Ein konkreter Ausstrahlungstermin steht bisher jedoch noch aus.

HBO’s new series True Detective is moving forward with casting at a pretty good pace. They’ve added four new faces, two male and two female, to join stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Twilight saga star Elizabeth Reaser and Texas Chainsaw 3D star Alexandria Daddario are the two new female stars added to the series. They’ll both be involved with the two leading men, whose decades old investigation of a murder has caused their lives to collide. Reaser will be playing Rust Cohle’s (Matthew McConaughey) girlfriend, Laurie Perkins, a surgeon who is classy and works with the wife of Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson). Harrelson’s wife will be played by Megan Monaghan. Alexandria Daddario will play a beautiful court reporter who finds herself entwined in a relationship with Hart that takes a dark turn.
The two new males added the cast are both alums of The Wire. Wood Harris and Michael Potts will both come on board as detectives. Potts plays Detective Maynard Gilbough, described as “cerebral" according to Deadline, while Harris will be playing his partner Thomas Papania. They will be involved in questioning Hart and Cohle regarding the events of decades ago, convinced that they are hiding something.
True Detectives started out promising with both McConaughey and Harrelson attached and looks like it’s getting stronger by the day. It follows an interesting format in which it will move back and forth in time between the time of the murder in 1995 and testimony being given by the two lead detectives in the present day. This will definitely be a project worth keeping an eye on, and we’ll keep you updated on production.
