Robert Pattinson – schmuddelt beim Griff in die Hose

From Twilight hunk to common criminal: Robert Pattinson reveals a set of gruesome rotting teeth as he gets to work on his new film The Rover

18:50 GMT, 5 March 2013 | UPDATED: 07:50 GMT, 6 March 2013

He is known for his perfectly coiffed hair and polished set of straight pearly whites.

But Robert Pattinson is totally transformed for his new movie The Rover.

The 26-year-old has been given a severe make under for the film in which he plays a common criminal.

Gnarly gnashers: Robert Pattinson revealed a pair of rather nasty rotting teeth as he filmed scenes for his new movie The Rover alongside co-star Guy Pearce in the Australian outback on Tuesday

The Hollywood heartthrob revealed a pair of rather nasty rotting teeth as he filmed scenes alongside co-star Guy Pearce in the Australian outback on Tuesday.

Robert appears to have been fitted with a pair of false teeth which are discoloured, crooked and cracked.

The prosthetic totally transforms the Twilight hunk's look as soon as he opens his mouth in the scenes.

Rotten: Robert appears to have been fitted with a pair of false teeth which are discoloured, crooked and cracked

The British actor has also shaved his head for the film - his longer auburn tresses now super short.

During his day of filming, Robert was also joined by his body double.

The pair were seen wandering around the Adelaide set in the same pair of dirty denim trousers and black printed T-shirt.

Shorn: The British actor has also shaved his head for the film - his longer auburn tresses now super short

Spot the difference: The actor has a body double, left, who is a dead ringer for the star, right

While Rob's doppelganger is a little more on the muscular side, with his facial hair and shaved head he is a dead ringer for the star.

Throughout the day, Robert was also seen filming some dangerous car ride scenes with Pearce, whom he is said to have formed a close bond with.

The plot of the movie tells the story of Eric (Pearce), a lone traveler in the Australian desert who is forced to pursue a ruthless gang of criminals after they steal his car.

Along the way, Eric enlists the help of Reynolds ( Pattinson), described as 'the naïve and injured junior member of the gang' who was left behind after a robbery.

Dirty: Rob was covered head to toe in dirt for his day of filming

The film is directed by David Michod, who had a big win at Sundance in 2010 with his acclaimed movie Animal Kingdom.

Michod wrote the film based on an idea conceived with Joel Edgerton, who stars in Zero Dark Thirty and the upcoming Great Gatsby alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

Pattinson has already filmed several fight scenes for the movie, which is said to feature 'gruelling action'.

Bushy: Guy also has been given a make under and was sporting a bushy beard

Shooting, which is taking place in several areas of the Australian outback, is said to be going for seven weeks and is expected to finish in mid-March, according to Variety.

Meanwhile, while Robert is filming in Australia, his on and off girlfriend Kristen Stewart has been filling up her time without her boyfriend by hanging with her Hollywood pals.

Recently the perennially glum star struggled once again to crack a smile as she went out to dinner with her friends.

Balancing act: Stunt doubles drive a car on it's side in scenes for the action-packed movie

Creepy: An extra is tied to a cross with a hessian bag over their head in other scenes

With her beau out of town filming, Kristen joined a group of friends for a birthday celebration.

While Kristen was largely surrounded by male friends, this time around Rob has nothing to worry about - as one was his best friend Marcus Foster.

The group included the Twilight star, the English singer and his bandmate Jack Standon as well as Kristen's best friend - and reported birthday girl - Scout Compton.

Staying low key, the friends celebrated at En Sushi in Los Feliz, which is just near Kristen and Rob's home.

Rest stop: The co-stars also film inside an outback cafe

Run down town: A deteriorating building is also part of the set

A source told Hollywoodlife.com: 'They were celebrating a friend’s birthday and sang Happy Birthday to her.

'They all shared the hot chocolate cake.

'Kristen was very nice and sweet. Her friends were also very nice.'

According to the source the unassuming sushi restaurant has been a date night spot for Kristen and Rob before.

'Kristen has been here before with Robert Pattinson but he has not been here for quite some time,' the source said.

The outing comes as x17online.com reports Kristen and Rob's relationship is once again struggling.

The pair briefly called time on their four-year relationship in 2012 when the actress was pictured in a steamy clinch with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

Red-carpet couple: Robert is seen looking his usual preened self as he poses on the red-carpet with his on and off girlfriend Kristen Stewart in November 2011

Robert Pattinson: Lebenszeichen aus Australien
(Foto)
Mit Spendensammler Samuel Johnson in Down Under

Seit Monaten dreht der Frauenschwarm in Australien seinen neuen Film “The Rover”.

" The Rover " : Erster Filmstill von " Entertainment Weekly "

Robert Pattinson gets Down Under and dirty with Guy Pearce in 'The Rover' -- FIRST LOOK

Australia was founded as a repository for crooks and criminals — a wretched hive of scum and villainy, like the British Empire’s own Mos Eisley. Of course, that was a long time ago and the Australian national demeanor has since shifted from “kill or be killed” to “live and let live,” but David Michôd’s gritty 2010 drama Animal Kingdom chronicled some of the country’s more modern criminal descendents. In his upcoming sophomore effort, The Rover, the director takes things even further.

Robert Pattinson plays a denizen of the Outback in the near future, after a worldwide financial collapse has sent many like him running to the still viable mines of the Australian desert. “It’s like a new gold rush,” says Michôd. “Where people from all corners of the world have come out to the desert to scrape out an existence. Petty criminals and miscreants and hustlers.” Guy Pearce, who had an uncharacteristically reserved role in Animal Kingdom, gets to sink his teeth into a nicely nasty part opposite Pattinson. “The basic story is really quite elemental,” says Michôd. “You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”

Of course, just by its setting and basic plot, The Rover is poised to draw comparisons to one of the antipodean country’s most memorable cinematic contributions. “You put cars in the desert in Australia and people are going to think of Mad Max,” says Michôd. “And with all due respect to that film — and I stress that — I think The Rover is going to be way more chillingly authentic and menacing.”

For more on The Rover and first looks at other upcoming projects, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly on stands Friday.

Harter Kerl

Robert Pattinson: “The Rover”-Dreh in Australien beendet
Fanbilder aus Adelaide

19. März 2013

Robert Pattinson | Facebook

Robert Pattinson in "The Rover"
Kollege Guy Pierce findet RPatz sexy

More than Mad Max with RPatz

April 11, 2013

Guy Pearce promises his post-apocalyptic adventure with Robert Pattinson is less camp than Mad Max and has worse teeth

Guy Pearce has given a glimpse of what to expect from The Rover, the futuristic film he finished shooting with Robert Pattinson in outback South Australia last month.

Director David Michod's keenly-anticipated follow-up to Animal Kingdom is ''an unusual story'' set in a world gone wrong in the near future.

Mad Max is great, don't get me wrong. But it's heightened in a way, whereas this is pretty earnest.

''It's a military state now, it's every man for himself a little bit, it's a very bleak kind of world,'' says Pearce, who's about to reach cinemas as the villain in Iron Man 3.

Eric and Rey share a moment ... Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson in The Rover

In The Rover, the Australian star plays the title role, a damaged man named Eric with nothing left to live for. Trying to track down a dangerous gang, he meets a young stranger, Rey (Pattinson), and they forge an uneasy alliance.

"[He's] somebody he has no interest in," Pearce says. "He's purely using him to get where he needs to go. So through this bleak ... world, there's a little connection that's kind of made, which on some level you might think would be a positive thing for this character.

"But on some level it actually makes things worse for him - to really believe that there's some sense of love in the world or any sense of humanity or compassion. So it's a pretty bleak story."

As filming finished in the small town of Marree, almost 700 kilometres north of Adelaide, Pattinson said he wanted to be part of The Rover because "it was a startlingly original script, and it was one of those parts where you read it and you think, 'I'd love to do this, but I know I'm never going to get it'."

To play Rey, the Twilight star was dressed as unkempt and unshaven, with make-up to discolour his teeth.

Pattinson says his character, an American who has come to Australia with his brother (played by Scoot McNairy), is "the kind of person who has been brought up to believe they're incapable of living independently. Someone has always been looking after him."

The two central characters, Eric and Rey, have a shifting relationship that Pattinson described as "strange and disturbing."

It's a film, expected to be out later this year, that seems to have echoes of the classic post-apocalyptic Australian film Mad Max.

''Not as camp though,'' says Pearce, was also in Animal Kingdom. ''Mad Max is great, don't get me wrong. But it's heightened in a way, whereas this is pretty earnest.''

Outback SA ideal for THE ROVER

The small towns and semi-desert landscape of South Australia’s outback will feature on the big screen as the buzz surrounding Australian feature film The Rover, starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, continues to grow.

The Rover, written and directed by David Michôd and produced by Liz Watts, David Linde, and David Michôd through Porchlight Films, in association with Lava Bear Films LLC, has recently completed its seven weeks of principal photography in South Australia, utilising the unique desert landscape SA offers to provide the perfect backdrop for the film’s storyline.

Set in the Australian desert in ‘a dangerous and damaged near future’, The Rover tells the story of Eric (Pearce) who has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him when a gang of desperate criminals steals his last possession. Eric sets off on a ruthless mission to track them down, forced along the way to enlist the help of Rey (Pattinson), the naïve and injured junior member of the gang who was left behind in the chaos of the gang’s most recent robbery.

SAFC CEO Richard Harris said “The SAFC was very excited to get behind The Rover, David Michôd’s first film since his critically acclaimed, box office smash, Animal Kingdom. It is the latest example of a project that has chosen to use South Australia’s unique outback locations to dramatic effect."

“SA’s capacity to offer locations both diverse and accessible within cooee of Adelaide and to provide Adelaide Studios as an ideal production base to support the location set, make us an attractive proposition. The Rover production team has tested our capacity to deliver both at the studios and on location and we’ve relished the opportunity to demonstrate our world class capability.

“The ability of South Australia to offer dramatic, unique and stunning landscapes, mixed with towns of distinctive original character, all supported by world class facilities (as those at the Studios) was a major part of our decision to shoot in South Australia. We found the Adelaide Studios incredibly accommodating to our needs- flexible and willing to work with us on different elements of production we needed. They were simply, great”, commented Liz Watts, producer of The Rover.

Shooting a film is never easy, but one of the most important elements of success is the level of support shown by local councils, and how warmly the cast and crew are welcomed by the community.

“For us, our ability to work with locals and townships and location owners in shooting was a really important part of achieving the look and tone of the film that we wanted. We shot in five key areas; around Port Augusta; Quorne and its neighbours, Hammond and Bruce; Hawker; Parachilna and lastly the absolutely unique Marree. Ever since David and I first visited Marree last year in surveys we were keen to include the town in the film, and we ended up spending just over two and a half weeks there with around 100 cast and crew, effectively doubling the population of the town. But the support we found there from the whole community was exceptional. I believe The Rover is the first feature film (since the amazing Back of Beyond documentary was shot there in the 1950s) to shoot in Marree, and we feel pretty priviledged in doing so”, shared Watts.

“We worked with locals in many ways including great locations and their owners, plus cast and extras. For our crew, this film has been a really memorable experience - as it was for our two leads, Guy and Rob” she continued.

Richard Harris also said “our aim is to work closely with Producers to ensure their projects can be realised in SA with minimal fuss and maximum support. Combine this with the film friendly culture of South Australia’s regional and outback communities and the lowest production costs for living and accommodation of any Australian state capital, and it’s clear why shooting in SA continues to be an attractive proposition for projects such as The Rover.”

THE ROVER will be completed in late 2013 and theatrical release timed for first quarter 2014. Australian distributor is Village Roadshow with FilmNation distributing internationally.

Am Set von "The Rover"
Robert Pattinson hasst Ungeziefer

Für seinen neuen Film "The Rover" musste Robert Pattinson einige Opfer bringen.
