Based on his play by the same name, Neil LaBute's script follows a successful writer (Adam Brody) who, on the eve of his wedding, travels across the country to meet up with ex-lovers in an attempt to make amends for past relationship transgressions. Crisscrossing from Seattle to Boston, he reunites with high school sweetheart SAM (Jennifer Morrison), sexually free-spirited TYLER (Mía Maestro), married college professor LINDSAY (Emily Watson), his best friend's little sister REGGIE (Zoe Kazan), and "the one that got away" BOBBI (Kristen Bell). Daisy von Scherler Mayer (PARTY GIRL) directs this journey of a modern-day Candide stumbling through a landscape familiar to most men—messy breakups.

"Some Girl(s)," a romantic comedy-drama starring Adam Brody, Kristen Bell and Jennifer Morrison, will be released June 28 on Vimeo's on demand video service.
Written by playwright and filmmaker Neil LaBute and directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer ("Party Girl"), "Girl(s)" debuted to positive notices at this year's South By Southwest Film Festival in March.
According to Deadline, producers Leeden Media decided to forgo traditional release routes to get the film to audiences faster and enjoy control over the marketing. Vimeo gives filmmakers the option to set their own prices, streaming periods and regions and offers a 90/10 profit split.
"Some Girl(s)" will be priced for sale at $10 with bonus features or for rental at $5. The film will also have a limited theatrical run in New York and Los Angeles beginning June 28.
Bell already has a close association with innovative new models for filmmakers thanks to the successful Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the long-awaited "Veronica Mars" movie.

Mit "House of Cards"-Star Corey Stoll hat Guillermo del Toro den passenden Hauptdarsteller für seinen vampirischen Serienpilot "The Strain" gefunden.
Update: Del Toros Vampirserie The Strain kommt gut voran, nun stieß auch noch Twilight-Star Mia Maestro (The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn - Part 1 und -Part 2) für die weibliche Hauptrolle Dr. Nora Martinez, Dr. Ephraim Goodweathers (Corey Stoll) Kollegin und Love-Interest, hinzu. Obwohl sich The Strain noch in der Pilotphase befindet, ist zu erwarten, dass FX einer 13-episodigen ersten Staffel grünes Licht geben wird.
Langsam fällt es schwer, den Überblick darüber zu behalten, an welchen Fronten Guillermo del Toro aktiv ist. Es sind jedenfalls eine ganze Menge, nicht nur filmischer Art, sondern auch im Serienbereich. Seine ambitionierte Manga-Adaption Monster hat er gerade erst bei HBO untergebracht, schon ein gutes Stück weiter ist er aber beim The Strain-Piloten, den er noch in diesem Jahr drehen will. Produzent Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) würde das Amt des Showrunners übernehmen, wenn der US-Kabelsender FX die Serie ordert. Die Hauptrolle hat del Toro jetzt schon mal an den Mann gebracht.
Den Zuschlag erhielt Corey Stoll (Law & Order - LA), der momentan in David Finchers Netflix-Politserie House of Cards zu sehen ist und auch kleinere Parts in Filmen wie Das Bourne Vermächtnis, Salt oder Lucky Number Slevin hatte. Für del Toro war es vielleicht die wichtigste kreative Aufgabe, den perfekten Darsteller für den Job zu finden. Mit Stoll, bei dessen Talent er förmlich ins Schwärmen gerät, sei das Projekt nun auf dem richtigen Weg.
Dass del Toro die potenzielle Serie so am Herzen liegt, kommt nicht von ungefähr, schließlich basiert The Strain auf einer Bestseller-Romantrilogie von Chuck Hogan und ihm selbst. Im Mittelpunkt der Story steht Dr. Ephraim "Eph" Goodweather (Stoll), der Leiter des "Canary Teams" der New Yorker Seuchenschutzbehörde, das bei biologischen Gefahren gerufen wird und dann direkt zum Ort des Geschehens fliegt. Zusammen mit seinen Spezialisten soll Eph einen mysteriösen Virenausbruch untersuchen. Was er entdeckt, lässt ihm das Blut in den Adern gefrieren: Das Virus trägt die Kennzeichen eines uralten und abgrundtief bösen Vampirismus-Erregerstammes. Als sich die Epidemie immer weiter ausbreitet, entbrennt ein Krieg um das Schicksal der ganzen Menschheit - also quasi eine Zombie-Apokalypse mit Vampiren statt Zombies.
Ebenfalls mit an Bord ist Kevin Durand (Robin Hood), der Vasily Fet, einen ukrainisch-amerikanischen Ratten-Kammerjäger, spielt. Fets einsames Leben erhält einen neuen Lebensinn, als er im von Vampiren überschwemmten New York unter der Anleitung eines weisen Vampirjägers aus Osteuropa in den Krieg gegen die Blutsauger zieht.
FX-Präsident John Landgraf verriet vor kurzem, dass für The Strain bereits ein kompletter Autorenstab bereitsteht und zusätzliche Skripts bestellt wurden - fast schon ein sicheres Zeichen dafür, dass del Toros Serie grünes Licht bekommt.

FX has cast "House of Cards" star Corey Stoll in the lead role in its drama pilot "The Strain," based on the best-selling vampire novel trilogy from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and author Chuck Hogan.
Del Toro and Hogan will co-write the pilot script, with del Toro attached to direct. Award-winning writer and producer Carlton Cuse ("Lost," "Bates Motel") will be an Executive Producer and oversee the series with Del Toro. He will serve as showrunner as the pilot goes to series. Hogan and Gary Ungar will also serve as Executive Producers. FX Productions will produce.
"The Strain" is a one-hour high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
"To me, having the right lead for 'The Strain' series was perhaps the most important creative task," said del Toro. "To be able to secure the perfect actor in Corey Stoll sets the project on the right track. To embody a character like Ephraim Goodweather - who transitions through every emotion and situation imaginable, and which anchors the narrative of the series - requires amazing talent and craft. Corey has both in spades as he has demonstrated it over and over again."
