How Ashley Greene and Mark Cosmetics Are Helping Women

It seems inevitable that all actresses, at some point in their careers, will join forces with a charity. And in this case it's Twilight star Ashley Greene who is teaming up with Mark Cosmetics to raise awareness about dating violence and sexual assault via the No More campaign. The organization, mPowerment by Mark, works to help educate young women on the hazards of sexual violence. ELLE.com sat down with the actress (who is also an ambassador for mark and a DKNY campaign model) to discuss her passion for the project; plus we got the inside scoop on which beauty products she adores.
ELLE: You've been with Mark for a few years now, how long have you been working on the No More campaign?
Ashley Greene: As a Mark brand ambassador, I became extremely cognizant of the devastating statistics about dating abuse and partner violence via the mPowerment campaign and knew I wanted to help change those statistics. mPowerment by Mark and the Avon Foundation for Women funded the No More study, which explored dating abuse, partner violence, and sexual assault. I was honored to be part of it and report the results of the survey in a Capitol Hill briefing.
ELLE: What are your go-to makeup products? AG: I love Mark’s Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stains are one of my longtime favorites because they aren’t tacky-feeling like most glosses.
ELLE: Do you have a signature look? AG: When it comes to fashion, I love skinny jeans, a simple top, and a great handbag. When it comes to beauty, I’m all about lashes right now.
ELLE: Is doing your own makeup easier for you now? AG: I’ve definitely learned more about myself through experimentation over the years–which products work best for my skin and tricks from various makeup artists I’ve been lucky enough to work with.
ELLE: Your skin is amazing, what do you use? AG: Thank you! Honestly, I just try to drink lots of water and get a decent amount of sleep! I also think exercising and eating fairly clean does wonders for your skin.
ELLE: Are there any skin conditions you struggle with? AG: I travel a lot so I do everything I can to keep my skin fresh and hydrated. Whenever I fly, I make sure I have a clean face so I can give my skin a break.
ELLE: What about your hair, what products do you use? AG: Mark’s Locks In Place Hairspray is one of my favorites. Ted Gibson’s Hair Sheets are perfect for travel.
ELLE: You have a movie coming out called CBGB about the NYC nightclub and the iconic punk movement. What was it like to delve into that time period? AG: That was an amazing time period to transport to during filming–the clothes, the music, the lifestyle–it really helps to get into character when there’s so much that changes from the moment you step onto the set.

Ashley Greene’s been the spokesperson for Mark for a few years now and like her, I can’t get enough of the affordable cosmetics and accessories from the brand. This Spring, she’s working with mPowerment by Mark
on their ‘No More’ campaign to help educate young women about sexual violence. I had the chance to speak to the actress about her involvement with the campaign, beauty must haves and advice she lives by.
The “No More” campaign has taken off. How has it impacted your life?
I was so proud to be part of the NO MORE Campaign in March and come together with many other partners to help end dating abuse, partner violence and sexual assault.
I hope that by raising my voice and speaking out, young women across the country might find the courage to leave abusive situations, or to help their friends do so.
I love your spring mark shoot. What item on your shopping list has already become a staple?
We actually shot this on a cold, rainy day in New York City, but the shimmery shades of gold, saffrons, and greens in the Marrakesh collection really made it feel like Spring.
It’s been my go-to this season for a quick, subtle glow.
What are your beauty must haves?
My staples are concealer, mascara and lip gloss. I like mark’s Gloss Gorgeous Stay on Lip Gloss because it’s a gloss and stain in one, and doesn’t feel tacky.
Also, taking care of my skin is also really important to me — I make sure to apply sunscreen every day and drink tons of water.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten and who was it from?
My mom and dad have always been a huge inspiration to me. I learned about self-worth and confidence from them, and appreciative their support & belief in me no matter what. It’s helped me to stay grounded over the years.
What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
I’m not really a fast food person, but I love McDonald’s vanilla ice cream cones.

Spätestens, wenn ein Promi auch für die Werbung gefragt ist, kann er sich freuen, denn es bedeutet, dass er in der Branche sehr begehrt ist und beim Publikum gut ankommt. Deshalb ist es für Lucy Hale (23) ein bedeutender Punkt in ihrer Karriere, nun für den Job der Markenbotschafterin einer Beauty-Firma ausgewählt worden zu sein.
Die Serie Pretty Little Liars machte Lucy rasend schnell weltweit bekannt. Seitdem ist die süße Schauspielerin mit dem hübschen Gesicht von den Events und Partys des Showbusiness' nicht mehr wegzudenken und macht dabei immer eine tolle Figur. Das fiel nun auch den Verantwortlichen von Mark Cosmetics auf, die die sympathische 23-Jährige deshalb zu ihrem neuen Werbegesicht machten. Damit ersetzt Lucy Twilight-Star Ashley Greene (26), die vorher diese Ehre hatte, und tritt zudem in die Fußstapfen der ehemaligen The Hills-Darstellerin Lauren Conrad (27), die ebenfalls schon diese Position ausfüllte.
Laut People zeigte sich die Schauspielerin sehr begeistert davon, die Aufgabe übernehmen zu können, die nicht nur beinhaltet, als schönes Gesicht der Werbung zu sehen zu sein, sondern auch als Sprecherin der m.powerment campaign, mit der die Beauty-Firma gegen Gewalt und Missbrauch von Frauen kämpft, zu fungieren. "Ich bin unglaublich stolz, mit einer Marke zusammenzuarbeiten, die sich so leidenschaftlich für die Stärkung von Frauen einsetzt wie ich", erklärte Lucy Hale, "seit Jahren bin ich schon Fan der Mark-Produkte, aber mir war es auch sehr wichtig, mit einer Bauty-Marke zusammenzuarbeiten, der es wirklich um die Schönheit von außen und von innen geht."
